Let there be light

It seems fitting, in early 2021, to be thinking about bringing more light to the world, but I have to admit, my motivations this week have been more visceral.

I’ve always loved fairy lights, and I’ve spent some delightful hours playing with light, metal and textiles to create unusual and beautiful pieces.

I made this tangled vine globe using copper and brass wire interspersed with 250 fairy lights on a 20 metre cord. This took some doing! I also made an outdoor globe with fencing wire and solar lights. Both of these lights have already found their new homes.

I’ll be sharing some more light designs next week, including an interesting textile/metal and light piece that is coming up a treat. In the meantime, I’m going to kick back with a nice hot chocolate as the sun sets on a cool and rainy autumn day in Canberra.
